Children are excited that spring is finally here. Tap into that excitement with this fun language arts activity:
Have students brainstorm a list of multiple meaning words. Begin the lesson by modeling that the word ’spring’ has multiple meanings such as the season (noun) and the action verb. After students have about 10 multiple meaning words listed, they will write a short story using the words. Explain that they have to use each pair of meanings in a sentence. For example, a good lead sentence for a story could be, “It’s time to spring into spring,” and thus two meanings were used in the same sentence.
This is a great creative-writing activity. Students will really enjoy reading their stories aloud to the class.
